The University’s brand is more than a logo or a positioning statement: it is an idea about who we are and what we stand for.

This idea resides in the minds of our stakeholders; and our aim should be to minimise the gap between the idea that stakeholders have about the University and the institution's brand messages, which are derived from our strategic planning processes.

As representatives of the University, we all recognise the power and importance of ideas and communication. Everything we do and everything we say – to a student, an industry representative, a member of the wider community, or each other – is communicating something about the University and how it operates.

This communication is happening all the time and the interface between the University and its stakeholders is complex.

The UWA Communications and Marketing Strategy is a framework for developing marketing plans and strategies within the University. The aim of this communications and marketing strategy is to help us work together to harness and direct the power of the University brand towards the aim to achieve international excellence. It is reviewed annually.

Copies of the 2010 strategy are available from the University Marketing Manager.

Faculties, schools, centres and administrative units are guided by this strategy when they develop marketing plans and other strategies. We also provide key documents that can assist you in developing marketing plans and other strategies. Should you need advice or support when developing your own marketing plan, whether it is for an area or a project, contact the University Marketing Manager.
