UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. I would like to again thank everyone who was involved in what was a fantastic UWA Open Day. The campus was vibrant, there were plenty of happy faces and even the rain held off.

Open Day and our refreshed brand are major elements of our student recruitment strategy, which, I am pleased to report, is working. Some of you may have noticed that there are more students in your classrooms and around campus this semester. This year, our Semester 2 intake of domestic students has been our largest ever – increasing nearly 30% from 2014.

This is a fantastic result, but there is still more work to do. I’m looking forward to seeing even more students choosing to study at UWA in the future.

Sincerely,
Professor Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

Forward Focus

Harnessing the Power of Music

Lee Stupart, Academic Services Manager at UWA Business School, has developed some unexpected skills while working on campus.

and the UWA staff choir.

They come for a bit of fun, but end up making some amazing sounds, gaining confidence, making new friends, and feeling a strong sense of community

– Michael Battersby, Choir Leader

A music lover who came to making music late in life, Lee learned to play the piano and violin (through the School of Music). But although she sang in a school choir many years ago and has always enjoyed singing around the house, she has never had the right opportunity as an adult to sing in a group.
