UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Next week Education Futures will achieve a significant milestone in improving education delivery at UWA through their Project ‘Black Swan’. This project is the transition from Moodle to a new Learning Management System, Blackboard. As one of the Sustainable Futures prioritised projects, the new system will provide our teaching staff and students with a range of additional features and functions to enhance their teaching and learning. Thank you to the many staff across campus for their hard work and patience in delivering this result in time for Semester 2.

I am also pleased to report that the Sustainable Futures website is now live and housing details of the first few projects. I encourage you to visit regularly as we continue to add content.

Sincerely,
Professor Dawn Freshwater
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Forward Focus

UWA IQ takes on Innovation

UWA is full of people doing new and exciting things. The team of UWA staff responsible for delivering a new project, the UWA Innovation Quarter (UWA IQ), is no exception. The ‘Innovation’ word is one that permeates every single thing they do.

We’re making innovation and entrepreneurship easier for our staff, students and community.

“The question of what ‘innovating’ actually means for the scientists, academics, staff and students at UWA is a big one,” said Rob Shannon, UWA IQ’s project manager. “Answering it is important if UWA is to reach its aspiration of being a top 50 globally ranked University by 2050.”
