UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. It is wonderful to see that the Carpe Diem learning design workshops are progressing well. Many of our unit coordinators have already redesigned their units to create an even more dynamic and engaging experience for our students. I am grateful to the Education Futures team and the library information specialists who have led this important change.

The feedback from our participants is very encouraging. The workshops are helping us continue to deliver an exceptional education experience as we shape the minds of new generations.

If you’re a unit coordinator, make sure you sign up for a workshop soon. See how Gilly Salmon’s team can help you seize on new ways to deploy your teaching talents and further inspire your students.

Sincerely,
Professor Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

UWA’s ALLY Network Builds on Success

In May, UWA was ranked – yet again – in the Top 10 employers for LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex) inclusion by the Australian Workplace Equality Index. The award marks the fifth year in a row UWA has been included in the annual list.

I’m old enough to remember when you didn’t talk about your personal life. You played the pronoun game. I dated a lot of ‘theys’!

UWA’s ALLY Network, a program based on an existing American model and introduced into the Australian tertiary sector by UWA, has been an integral part of our success in LGBTI inclusion. This week, UWA Forward sat down with members of the network to find out more.
