UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. Next week the spotlight will be on our fantastic researchers and their ground-breaking discoveries as we celebrate UWA Research Week from 5-9 September. Dr Karl will be on campus to launch the week in what I think will be a popular event with staff, students and the community. I encourage you all to visit the website; with over 50 events there is something for everyone.

The 2017 Good University Guide* was released on Monday and I was pleased to see UWA maintained its five star rating for median graduate salaries. We are the top university nationally in this area which reflects our commitment to preparing graduates who are highly valued in the workforce.

The methodology used by the Good Universities Guide has been redesigned and includes a number of different measures and indicators from previous years which you can read more about below.

Renewal Project Update

Following yesterday's staff forum, the formal consultation on the proposed Service Delivery Model has now begun. For those of you who couldn't attend, the presentation was recorded and is available on the Renewal Project website. Also available under the Professional Services Delivery section of the website is the Proposal for Change document and the supplement document which includes organisational charts for the proposed future state structures. Feedback on the proposal can be sent to renewal-feedback@uwa.edu.au until the 7 October.

I understand that many of you may have questions or would like clarification on some of the information in the document. Therefore I will be holding several question and answer sessions over the next few weeks. The dates of these are also available on the Renewal Project website and you are welcome to attend whichever session works best for you. I look forward to hearing your questions and comments.

Sincerely,
Professor Dawn Freshwater
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar
