UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. As classes resume this week I trust you will join me in welcoming our new students to campus. We want our students to feel engaged and supported as they move through the student lifecycle - from the moment they receive a letter of offer through to becoming alumni. We can all play a part in helping students get the most out of their time at UWA – whether teaching a unit, answering an enquiry, or simply by having a chat while you wait for coffee.

In your interactions with students, I encourage you to congratulate and thank them for choosing UWA. If you see someone looking lost, please take the time to check on them and help them find their way around campus. Bear in mind it is likely what they are experiencing is very different from what they are used to. They could be straight from a high-school down the highway or from a College across the ocean. Either way, they are the leaders of the future pursuing their impossible, and I hope that you all do what you can to encourage and inspire them.

Sincerely,
Professor Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

Trea says a fond farewell to Uniview after 23 years.

After 23 years at the helm of the University flagship publication Uniview, journalist and author Trea Wiltshire is stepping away from the role of Editor.

Trea Wiltshire
looks back over 23 years as Uniview Editor

When, after reading an issue, a staff member phoned up and say: 'Where did you find these people – we didn’t even know they were graduates?' I'd know my journalistic ferreting had been worthwhile!
