UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. It has been another busy year for arts and cultural engagement and there is still plenty to come. The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery's final season of art exhibitions for 2016 opened last Friday, and next week the Big Draw Festival starts which celebrates the benefits of drawing for all ages. Further information on the festival can be found in this video.

On Sunday, the exceptional ability of the School of Music's emerging artists will be showcased at the Perth Concert Hall. Main Stage: Culmination features young performers from the UWA Symphony Orchestra and the UWA Symphonic Chorus and this will be an outstanding orchestral and choral concert.

Sincerely,
Professor Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

Renewal Project Update

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed Service Delivery Model. We received over 200 submissions and I want to acknowledge the significant amount of time and effort that was put into this valuable feedback.

As you are aware on Friday we will announce the final decision on the new Service Delivery Model. A detailed document will be published on the Renewal Project website, and will outline:

  • information about the decision
  • a summary of the feedback received
  • major changes made to the proposal as a result of feedback and consultation
  • the transition process for staff
  • where possible the next level of detail in relation to roles, team accountabilities and responsibilities

I look forward to ongoing consultation regarding the implementation process for the Service Delivery Model.

Sincerely,
Professor Dawn Freshwater
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar

Forward Focus

Inclusion, accessibility and the art of drawing

Leaving the Middle East to study in Perth was the first step Caine Chennatt took on a personal journey that has seen him accomplish so much since arriving 11 years ago.

Caine Chennatt

I'm committed to improving inclusion and accessibility and with regards to art, I think it is great that we are increasingly considering its impact and relevance.

On completion of his communications degree, Caine joined the UWA Faculty of Arts in 2009 and moved to the Cultural Precinct in 2013.

Read more about Caine's focus at the Cultural Precinct and what motivates him.
