UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. Today is World Teachers' Day, a time to reflect on the positive impact educators have on society and recognise the exceptional quality of teaching at UWA. It is especially significant this year as we celebrate a century of teaching education. Our teachers are dedicated to delivering a world-class education and preparing students for successful careers and this is something we can all take pride in.

The Student Guild's Multicultural Week is providing a festive welcome back to campus for students returning from their study break. Tomorrow is the popular Spring Feast Night Festival, a celebration of cultures through food on Oak Loan from 6pm. It is a fantastic evening with over 50 food stalls and everyone is welcome to attend.

Sincerely,
Professor Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

Forward Focus

Innovation and Ironman

Rob Shannon's a busy guy. As project manager of UWA's Innovation Quarter he's part of the team striving to foster enterprise and entrepreneurship on campus. He's also a world-class Ironman.

Rob Shannon

What started with wanting to simply finish an Ironman has quickly became one of my biggest life challenges.

Finishing an impressive 52nd in the recent Half Ironman World Championships in Mooloolaba, it's hard to believe that before 2013 he'd never competed in a triathlon of any distance.

Read more about Rob's quest for Kona qualification.
