UWA Forward

Vice-Chancellor's Voice

Good morning. The University has a rich history of fair play and sportsmanship and last week I was pleased to join over 250 Team UWA athletes at their rally ahead of the 2016 University Games. The team is striving to add to the championship title they won at this year's Western University Games and with the majority of this week's events at McGillivray Oval, staff and students can cheer them on at the FanZone. Good luck!

Staff will also have an opportunity to test their sporting skills soon with the UWA Staff Sports Day coming up on Friday 11 November. Save the date and start getting your team together, more details will be provided in a future edition of UWA Forward.

Sincerely,
Professor Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor

Renewal Project Update

Thank you to everyone who came to last week's Open Forum, where I shared feedback to date on the proposed Service Delivery Model and staff transition principles. Please note that the voluntary staff questionnaire is now available on the Renewal Project website and will remain open until Friday 7 October.

I also confirmed the staff recruitment freeze will be extended until the end of the year and you can read more about this here.

The decision on the Service Delivery Model will be published on the Renewal Project website on Friday 14 October, when the next Open Forum will also be held. Details of the forum are available on the website. I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,
Professor Dawn Freshwater
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar

Forward Focus

The Oracle and the origins of UWA

For 28 years Terry Larder has been providing the warmest of welcomes to UWA visitors and the thousands of staff, students and alumni that have crossed his path.

Terry Larder

Any staff member can climb the tower, they just need to come see me and get the key. It's 184 steps to the top so not the best day to wear high heels though.

Anyone who has been lucky enough to go on a 'Terry Tour' understands how passionate Terry is about the University, not to mention the fact that his vast UWA knowledge is surely unsurpassed by anyone.
